2010 Toyota FJ Cruiser: Smartphone friendly radio and let there be light!

After taking delivery of this very bright yellow FJ, we were initially tasked with providing better smartphone connectivity for these long time customers. A few beach trips later, we were tasked with some extra illumination for those evenings on the beach. With some research, we were even able to setup a 100% OEM look on the toggle switch.

Lexus installations can sometimes be tricky but we were prepared for this one. We were told by Lexus that there was only one radio interface that was verified to work for this project and we ordered the appropriate parts. However, when installed, the “correct” part sounded horrible and didn’t work well, so we had to come up with another solution.

We found that we were able to adapt another radio interface (that was not listed as compatible for this car by the manufacturer) and it got the factory amplifier and speakers to work correctly as well as enabling all the new features of the DVD in-dash receiver including the Bluetooth function for phone calls and streaming music.

Headrest Video – 2012 GMC Acadia

Headrest video that looks factory.

This customer was referred to us to help solve his problem of entertaining his children on a long trip for the holidays. He wanted for them to be able to view different programs (helpful if you are trying to entertain different age ranges) and we had just the plan for him.

A pair of headrest DVDs made to replace the factory was just what was needed to make sure that they looked right (made to match the factory leather color/stitching) and performed well as well as some wireless headphones so that the parents can listen to their tunes while the kids are entertained by their movies. He can also take the system to a new vehicle by ordering new headrest cartridges and having us install the electronics in them.
